Prepare emergency action plan to meet drinking water crisis

Bhopal:Monday, June 15, 2009:The Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has instructed to prepare emergency action plan to meet drinking water crisis in view of possibility of delay in arrival of monsoon. Shri Chouhan said that water supply arrangements should be made in both urban and rural areas with complete sincerity and seriousness. The Chief Minister was reviewing drinking water supply arrangements at the Mantralaya here today.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the proposals received from district collectors for undertaking transportation of drinking water should be approved immediately and funds be allocated without delay. Shri Chouhan instructed the officers to ensure that water supply should not be affected due to power failure.

The Chief Minister apprised himself of the water supply arrangements in Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Sehore and Shujalpur which are in the grip of grave drinking water crisis. The meeting was informed that 1.5 to 2 MLD water is being supplied to Dewas by Indore Municipal Corporation daily. Drinking water is being transported to 761 villages of the state presently.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Public Health Shri RK Swai, Principal Secretary Revenue Shri MM Upadhyay, Principal Secretary Urban Administration Shri Raghav Chandra, Principal Secretary Finance Shri GP Singhal, Energy Secretary Shri Sanjay Bandopadhyaya, Secretary to CM Shri SPS Parihar and other concerning officers.
