Land locked area of Dodra Kwar connected to rest of the world

Deep Joshi , 15 June : The joy of the people of Dodra Kwar knew no bounds today when Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister reached Kwar by road after inaugurating Larot-Kwar road. The land locked area of Dodra Kwar has been provided road connectivity after constructing road in a difficult terrain. This task was very stupendous as working season in the area is for two-three months in a year. The day would also go as a red letter day in the development history of the State when so far land locked Dodra Kwar valley, got connected with bussable road, connecting Sub Divisional, headquarter of Kwar. Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal flagged off Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation bus on 61 km long stretch between Larot-Chanshal, at a height of 12600 feet –Dodra-Kwar. He also drove along the entire new road length along with a long cavalcade to mark the historic day.

He took halt at Chanshal Pass for some moments to enjoy the chill of the virgin heights and was greeted by people at village Dodra and other points with traditional warmth. The entire road length had been completed at a cost of Rs. 18 crore.

Prof. Dhumal said that 9 years ago in June, 2000, he had visited the place and promised to construct the long awaited Larot-Kwar road and the dream came true today. He said that with the construction of the road, the people need not have to cover the distance of 30-40 km on foot which otherwise they had to cover from Uttrakhand side. He said that road would also help the people in marketing their produce in outside markets which would give boost to farming economy of the area. He announced Rs. 9 crore for upgrading the road to facilitate smooth plying of vehicles to the valley. He said that valley would witness economic revolution in coming years. He also assured that the problem of the people of the area would be met with on priority. He said that funds would not be any constraint in carrying out developmental activities in the area. He said that backward, difficult, tribal and remote areas had been on priority agenda of the State Government.

Chief Minister assured the people of the valley that he would be taking up the matter of all weather road connectivity to Kwar personally with his counterpart in Uttrakhand and request him to construct the stretch falling in his territory so that people of the valley were not marooned during winter season when the Chanshal heights were covered with heavy snow. He said that a delegation of prominent people of the area would also be sent to Dehradoon to take up the matter with the Utttrakhand Government.

Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal announced Rs. 10 lacs for Government Senior Secondary School Dodra and Rs. 20 lacs for Government Senior Secondary School Kwar buildings to facilitate students with better educational

infrastructure facilities. He also assured Mahila Mandals and Yuvak Mandals to fulfill their demands on priority.

Shri Virender Kashyap, Member of Parliament thanked the Chief Minister for expediting the construction of Larot-Kwar road on war footing.

Shri Khushi Ram Balnahta, Chairman, HP State Cooperative Bank welcomed the Chief Minister. He urged Chief Minister to take up matter with Uttrakhand Government to construct road in its territory. He said that inauguration of Larot-Kwar road has fulfilled the long pending demand of the people of the area.

Shri Narender Bragta, Horticulture Minister, Ms. Satya Peetan, Member State BJP Executive, Shri Visheshwar Bashtu, President BJP Mandal Rohru, Shri Jaiveer BDC Member Kwar, Shri Devender Bushehri, Senior BJP leader, Shri J.S. Rana, Deputy Commissioner, Shri R.M. Verma, Superintendent of Police, Shri Pradeep Chauhan, Chief Engineer, PWD, prominent people and senior officers were present on the occasion.

Earlier, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister dedicated the fire station building completed at a cost of Rs. 94.59 lakh to the residents of Sub Divisional headquarters of Rohru today. He also dedicated the 'Rain Basera' of Notified Area committee, completed at a cost of Rs. 27 lakh and laid foundation stone of the Govt. Senior Secondary School Girls building at Dashalini Rohru, estimated to cost Rs. 2 crore.

Dedicating these developmental projects to the people of the area, Chief Minister said that the new buildings would help in providing better facilities to the residents of the town and the property would be well protected from fire accidents. He said that the new school building would be instrumental in creation of congenial academic atmosphere where girl students would be able to carry on with their academic pursuits. He said that education was on the priority agenda of the State Government and best efforts being made to get every girl child educated near to their homes.

Shri Narender Bragta, Horticulture Minister, Shri Virender Kashyap, MP, Shri K.R. Balnahta, Chairman, State Cooperative Bank and senior officers of State Government and district administration were present on the occasion among others.
